Improved File Transfers between Android Phones and Windows PCs
Google has recently updated its Quick Share tool for Windows, providing users with a more seamless file transfer experience. The update allows for faster transfers between Android phones and Windows PCs without the need for both devices to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Users can now utilize Quick Share over a Wi-Fi connection, even when the PC is not on its primary network. By creating a hotspot using their phone and connecting the PC to it, users can achieve transfer speeds ranging from 30 MB/s to 110 MB/s.
Formerly known as Nearby Share, Quick Share is now the unified tool for sharing files across various devices, including phones, tablets, Chromebooks, and Windows PCs. This feature is a counterpart to Apple’s AirDrop and simplifies the sharing process between different devices.
Enhanced Accessibility Outside Home Networks
Prior to the update, users were required to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network for file transfers, which posed challenges when outside the home environment. By enabling Quick Share over a Wi-Fi connection, users can enjoy faster transfer speeds without compromising their data security. This update eliminates the need for risky public Wi-Fi connections or slow Bluetooth transfers.
