Teller County Sheriff Jason Mikesell reported that the Highland Lakes fire, which broke out in Divide and threatened several homes, is now 60% contained. Over 150 firefighters have been tirelessly working to control the fire.

Evacuation orders for over 650 homes were lifted, with mandatory evacuations still in place for nearly 700 homes. There are hopes to gradually release residents back to their homes starting Wednesday morning.
