Pepperdine has once again been chosen to host the 2027 West Regional of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament at the renowned Crypto.com Arena. This marks the sixth time since 2013 that Pepperdine has been awarded the privilege of hosting this prestigious event.

Gratitude Expressed for Partnership
Expressing their gratitude for the selection, Pepperdine Athletic Director Tanner Gardner stated, “We are so grateful to all parties involved in this selection. Partnering with Crypto.com Arena, the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission (LASEC), and AEG in 2024 proved to create an outstanding event, and we can’t wait to have the opportunity to host and feature Los Angeles again in three years.”
Previous Successful Collaborations
Pepperdine has previously collaborated with Crypto.com Arena and LASEC for NCAA West Regionals in 2013, 2015, 2018, and most recently in 2024. The 2020 NCAA West Regional was also set to take place in Los Angeles but was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Looking back at the 2024 West Regional, fans witnessed exciting upsets and historic moments, with Alabama and Clemson making their mark in the Sweet Sixteen. President Lee Zeidman of Crypto.com Arena added, “We are incredibly excited to host the 2027 Regional at Crypto.com Arena. This will be the sixth time in our 25-year history that we have partnered with Pepperdine and LASEC to bring this phenomenal event to downtown Los Angeles and welcome college basketball fans from around the country for an amazing weekend.”

Historical NCAA Tournament Events in Los Angeles
Los Angeles has a rich history of hosting NCAA Tournament games, with the 2013 event marking the return of March Madness to the city since 1994. Wisconsin and Michigan went on to claim West Regional titles in 2015 and 2018, respectively. Los Angeles has hosted various NCAA basketball events over the years, including Final Fours, West Regionals, and early-round games.
Venues for NCAA Events in Los Angeles
Crypto.com Arena, formerly known as STAPLES Center, hosted its first NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament event in 2013. Prior to that, the Los Angeles Sports Arena and UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion were the venues for NCAA Tournament games in the city. The upcoming 2027 West Regional will add to the iconic basketball legacy of Los Angeles.
