Ubisoft Launching NFT Collection for Captain Laserhawk Game Access
Introduction of Niji Warrior IDs
Ubisoft, a prominent player in the gaming industry, is gearing up to release a 10,000-piece non-fungible token (NFT) collection on Arbitrum through the Magic Eden marketplace. This collection will provide early access to the upcoming game, Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.
Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. is a top-down shooter inspired by the popular Netflix series Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix and Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Set in a dystopian world, the game will feature renowned characters from Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed, Rayman, and Beyond Good & Evil franchises.
The NFTs, known as Niji Warrior IDs, will not only grant early game access but also allow players to engage in game governance, monitor player progress, and evolve based on in-game performance. These evolutions will unlock new benefits and increase players’ influence in governance decisions.
Payout Potential in the Horizon
Moreover, NFT holders will have the opportunity to earn rewards and access user-generated content, enhancing their gaming experience. Magic Eden’s CEO, Jack Lu, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with Ubisoft and the Arbitrum Foundation to bring this innovation to the gaming community.
This venture marks Ubisoft’s second foray into blockchain gaming, following the release of Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles on the Oasys network. The upcoming minting of Captain Laserhawk is eagerly anticipated, with an allowlist already in place for potential NFT minters.
On a different front, recent reports suggest that Tencent, a major player in the gaming industry, and the Guillemot family are contemplating the acquisition of Ubisoft. This potential purchase comes amidst Ubisoft lowering revenue forecasts for its upcoming flagship game, “Assassin’s Creed: Shadows”. The discussions could potentially lead to Ubisoft becoming a privately-owned entity, shielding it from public scrutiny regarding earnings and operations.
As developments unfold, the convergence of blockchain technology and gaming continues to shape the landscape of the industry. The integration of NFTs in gaming experiences opens up new avenues for player participation and ownership, heralding a new era of interactive entertainment.
